How It Works

The GIF Maker draws each of your images onto a canvas of the size you choose, reduces each frame to a 256-colour palette (median-cut quantization), then assembles the frames into a single animated GIF89a file with LZW compression — all in JavaScript, entirely on your device.

Settings:
  • Frame delay: How long each frame stays on screen, in milliseconds. Set a default for every frame, or override individual frames in the frame list.
  • Loop: Loop forever, play once, or repeat a fixed number of times.
  • Fit mode: Contain keeps the whole image and adds background padding, Cover crops to fill, and Stretch distorts to the exact size.
  • Order: Use the arrows on each frame to change the play order.

Tips

  • GIF only supports 256 colours per frame, so photos and gradients may show slight banding.
  • Smaller dimensions and fewer frames keep the file size down — great for messaging and social media.
  • Very short delays (under 20 ms) are clamped by most browsers; 40–100 ms gives smooth motion.
